1 - Don't buy in short

There's a lot of debate over buying in short in cash games, but I feel it's best to buy in for the maximum. These increases the value at the table, meaning when you have your best hands and double up, it is worth 5-10x more then if you had bought in short.

2 - Table select

Table selecting in cash games is massively important. Obviously, if you pick a table full of regulars, you’re not going to come away with the same win rate as a table full or fish. Try to look for large average pots and players per flop, but don't dive straight into the game. Observe it for a while and make a decision as to whether your game suits the table dynamics.

3 - Pick the right seat

Cash games are the only type of poker in which you can choose your own seat, so take advantage of it. You want to be sitting with the better player's to the right and the worst players to the left. Again just observe the table before sitting down, but not long enough for somebody else to steal it!

4 - Find the right game type

Although No Limit is the most popular form of poker, it doesn't mean it's the most profitable for you. Pot limit seems to be a dead game now, so that just leaves Fixed limit. This requires a much different strategy and variance is much lower than no limit, so if you can't deal with the swings in no limit, try your luck at fixed.

5 - Stay Tight

There's no need to rush in cash games, the limits aren't going to go up and you don't need to worry about keeping track with the average stack. Therefore you can just play your best game without putting yourself in too many difficult situations.

6 - Don't post your big blind out of position

This is a big mistake a lot of new player's make. There is no need to pay an extra blind when sitting down at the table, just be patient and wait for it to come to you. If you are only a 1bb/100 winner, every big blind you waste is having a massive effect on your win rate.

7 - Auto Reload

This feature has become a popular feature throughout the poker industry and for good reason. This is a must mainly for the same reason as Tip number 1, buying in full.

8 - Find the best table type

There are three main different table types, 9-player, 6-player and heads up. Most players will already have a favourite type, but if you haven't try them all out. Your win rate will probably change drastically between the three, so if your poker goals are money orientated it maybe a good idea to put a good amount of hands in each and compare your win rate.

9 - Learn when to leave the table

A lot of player's have a stop loss or leave when they win a certain amount. Almost every poker pro will agree that these are not a good idea. You should only leave a table when you are mentally or physically tired, or when the game turns bad. As long as the game is good and you are fully focused, you shouldn't leave, no matter how much you have lost or won.

10 - Learn position

Again, as you don't have to worry about blinds increasing etc. you can fold more hands and use position more effectively. Other player's will be more willing to give up there blinds in a cash game then a SNG approaching the bubble, so learning the power of position in a cash game
