Sitngo Bankroll And Return On Investment

The goal when playing sit n go’s is to develop a good return on your investment. Here is an example: Lets say you play ten twenty dollar limit sit n go’s and you have took first place in one of them, second place in two of them and third place in one as well. You didn’t place in the other six tournaments. This means you have invested $220 in tournament entries and fees and you have won $260 from your in the money finishes. This means that on your $220 investment, you have won $40, your return on investment is about 18%. Depending on the type of sit n go you are playing, a good return on investment ranges from 8% for high limit games to between 10% and 20% for games in the ten to thirty dollar range. In order to gain the experience and skill necessary to obtain a good return on your investment, you must have a bankroll capable of handling some loses.

A good sitngo bankroll revolves around the game that fits your skill level and budget. Like all bankroll considerations, the best way to assure you will lose money is to play in games that are too tough or that are too big for your bankroll. Like all poker bankroll discussions, there is never a steadfast number, only generalizations based on your skill and the competition. When starting at low limits, it is certainly possible to get by with twenty to twenty five buy ins. Use this as a guideline for micro limit and low limit sit n gos from five dollars and below.

As you progress into the larger games between ten and thirty dollars, you will find that the competition increases and so do your swings. For these levels, forty to sixty buy ins is probably a better number, but even 100 buy ins is not unheard of. Keep things in perspective though. If your return on investment is good and the competition is beatable, 100 buy ins might be overkill. For high limit sitngo’s of fifty dollars on up no bankroll is too big. At these high limits you want to do whatever you can to limit risk of ruin and playing with scared money. 50 to 100 or even more buy ins for these high levels is a good recommendation. It will keep you comfortable and will absorb a lot of the blows you will face against the tougher competition.

Other Thoughts On Bankroll Management

The biggest thing to remember when considering your bankroll and sit n go’s is your skill level and the skill level of your competition. If you are a tight player who generally risks less, then your bankroll can be adjusted accordingly. At the same point, if you are beginner in poker, sometimes no bankroll is adequate. Long before you can establish a stable bankroll built on winning poker, you will most likely lose lots of money as you learn. This is expected, as everyone pays a price to learn poker. Just try to keep your money in perspective and risk what you can comfortably lose. This will make your journey to success smoother and more fun.
